POLLUTION ALLEGED
Case Against Company (N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON. June 7. After hearing five witnesses called by the Wellington Acclimatisation Society yesterday, Mr J. F. Keane. S.M., in the Masterton Magistrate’s Court adjourned the hearing of a case last evening against the Nireaha Dairy Company for alleged pollution of the Mangatainoka river.
Having heard addresses from counsel, the Magistrate decided to consider their submissions of law. The five witnesses, comprising two anglers, a society ranger and two scientific officers, recounted how they had seen dead fish and evidence of river pollution when they had inspected the site in early January this year.
The case was adjourned with no date yet fixed for the hearing to be continued.
