Egg Laying Trial
The outstanding performance in the third month of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club's breeders' laying trial was the laying of 162 eggs in 28 days by the six-bird team of R. L Vallance. of Rangiora. The birds were Barred Plymouth Rocks.
Teams leading at the end of the third month of the 48week trial were:
Six-bird teams. Australorps: E. G. Wood (Leeston', 457 eggs. White Leghorns: E. G. Wood. 394 eggs. Any other variety: W. L. Tonks (Gisborne). 444 eggs with Blue Australorps. Twenty-bird teams: Australorps: W. A. McClatchy (Kaiapoi), 1328 eggs White Leghorns: A. McClintock and Son (Southland), 1215 eggs.
