Indoor Basketball POPULAR WIN BY B.G.H. B
Boys' Gordon Hall B had a popular win. its first of the season, over University B. in the Canterbury Men's Basketball Association's competition matches at the W. J Cowles Stadium last night. B.G.H. fully deserved its win. It played a tight zone defence, and varied its attacks with hard driving and intricate movements under the basket. Three teams now share the lead in the competition. They are Wigram. Y Boys, and Boys' Gordon Hall A. Rex A trails the leaders by two points. University A will have to produce a high standard in future games to retain its place among the top teams.
Perhaps the most exciting win of the evening was that of the depleted Wigram team over Rex A. H. Fox played an outstanding game for Rex. He guarded beautifully. anticipated well, and led bis team on attack. Inaccurate shooting cost Rex many points. It should have won this match.
Boys’ Gordon Hall A deserved its win over University A. and Y Boys were hard pressed to beat Rex B. Results were:—
Boys’ Gordon Hall A 34. University A 24; Boys' Gordon Hall B 29. University B 23: Y Boys 26. Rex B 18; Wigram 28. Rex A 25.
