CRIME WAVE IN BAY
Four Youths Convicted (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. May 23. Four youths appeared in the Magistrate’s Court at Napier today on charges involving the theft of property worth a total of £4961. The Court was told that the youths had been responsible for a serious wave of crime in many parts of Hawke's Bay. In all. the youths pleaded guilty to 1’ charges (some jointly laid) of burglary, car conversion and theft. Mr W. S. Spence. S.M.. convicted the youths on all charges and remanded them for sentence till Mondaypending probation officers’ reports. Before the Court were Sydney Naera. aged 19. workman. of Clive: James Taihare Wepa. aged 20. workman, of Haumoana: Clarence Matutaera Hawea. aged 19. shearer. of Te Hauke: and Denis Frederick Hape. aged 17. apprentice carpenter, of Napier
