BILLY GRAHAM’S RETURN

No Decision Yet On Date

Though all the churches in the National Council of Churches had agreed that a return visit by Dr. Billy Graham was desirable, there had been no decision on the time, said the secretary of the council (the Rev A. A Brash) yesterday.

Dr. R. Mitchell, Billy Graham’s persona] representative in Australia, said during his tour of New Zealand that Dr. Graham would consider a return visit if, and when, the National Council of Churches of New Zealand invited him. “All the churches in the council have decided that it would be a good thing if, at some future date. Dr. Graham could come to New Zealand,” said Mr Brash.

“But, in the opinion of the churches, such a visit should only be arranged when it will do the most good to the ongoing work of evangelism in which the churches are involved, separately and together. There is no decision at all yet as to when this would be. but the matter w’ill be under consideration at various inter-church conversations during 1962.” he said “Since some of the churches have asked for two years’ warning before such a visit, it would appear that his return before 1965 is unlikely,” Mr Brash said.
