NEW MAIN FOR GAS
First Link In System (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, May 22. The first link in a new system of high pressure mains which would be necessary if natural gas from Taranaki came to Auckland is being laid by the Auckland Gas Company. The installation is taking place in Wellesley street west from Hobson street to Queen street. The 6in main is in all-welded heavy steel, which is the international standard in the petroleum and natural gas industries. It will ultimately serve the new Auckland University buildings, but is being laid now because the City Council is reconstructing the road.
