"In view of the present situation I cannot profitably comment,” said the Prime ! Minister (Mr Holyoake) when 'asked in Christchurch yesterday whether the New Zealand Government had received a formal request from Thailand for armed forces from this country. The Prime Minister arrived in Christchurch to attend a Canterbury Chamber of Commerce dinner last evening and to open the annual conference of the New Zealand Insurance Institute this morning.' This afternoon he will call at the annual meeting of the National Party’s Canterbury-Westland division.
