NEW PRESIDENT OF ITALY.—The former Foreign Minister, Mr Antonio Segni (right), and the Prime Minister, Mr Amintore Fanfani, embrace after Mr Segni had been elected President of the Italian Republic at a joint session of the two Houses of Parliament in Rome. Mr Segni, aged 71, has succeeded President Giovanni Gronchi, whose term expired on May 11.
