Prams On Buses
Sir,—As the mother of a six-weeks-old baby I am convinced the age of chivalry has passed. On Friday I was about to board the 130 p.m. bus from the Square to Hei Hei. There were people boarding the bus while I took the baby from the pram When I had attached the storm-cover to the pram the bus-driver started the motor. I looked up and he looked at hi* watch and said I was too late. As the driver must have known, the next bus did not leave until 2.30 (1 hour 20 minute* later). I think this was too much on an already over-burdened mother.—Yours, etc., ON TIME.
May 14. IM2. [Mr J. F. FardeD. reneral manager of the Christchurch Transport Board, Mid: “If the facts are as stated then the
board doe* not countenance this sort of action, and I would apologise to the lady who received this treatment. We would have appreciated it if this matter could b*ve been sent to us in writing within 48 hours of occurrence. as required by the transport workers' award, so that we could appropriately deal with the matter I trust that the complainant will not have any recurrence of this experience.”]
