TALKS ON E.E.C.
Australian’s
Visit
(N Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, May 11. The permanent head of the Australian Department of Trade, Dr. H. A. Westermann, will arrive in New Zealand within a few days for trade discussions with the New Zealand Government.
Dr. Westermann’s visit, which could lead to agreement on co-ordination between Australia and New Zealand on some front of Britain’s Common Market negotiations, is a result of discussions in Canberra between Mr Holyoake and the Australian Minister for Trade, Mr John McEwen. Mr Holyoake said that during his recent visit to Australia for the A.N.Z.U.S. council meeting it was plain there was an urgent need for Australia and New Zealand to team up their fight to protect their markets in Britain.
Mr Holyoake said today that although there was already considerable coordination between the two countries in their approach to the problems posed by the Common Market, there was room for even closer team work.
Russian Theatre Tour.— Twenty-five members of the Moscow State Variety Theatre arrived in Perth by air today to begin an Austra-lia-New Zealand tour.— (Perth, May 10.)
