FERTILISER STRIKE

6 Bad Effect On Topdressing’

(N.Z. Press Association)

PALM. NORTH. April 20. Serious setbacks to the agricultural aviation industry were expected if the fertiliser strike continued, the general manager of Aerial Farming, Ltd. (Mr H. X. Death) said on Thursday. Mr Death said his company, which covered most of the North Island, had only enough superphosphate to carry out two days' work in Taumarunui and one day's work in Wanganui. Planes in the East Coast were idle.

"This is a serious position," Mr Death said. “We are already far behind our normal schedule this year because of the drought, and if the strike continues we will n’t be able to topdress many acres this year.” Agricultural aviation increased the country’s revenue by more than £5O million a year, he said, and the effects of the strike would be far-reaching. Aerial Farming employs a staff of 43.
