PENSIONER COTTAGES
Contract For 24 Units
A tender of the J. J. Construction Company, Ltd., for £35,311 was accepted by the City Council for the building of 24 pensioners’ cottages in Marshland road.
The completion time for the contract is 48 working weeks, subject to the city water main and electrical underground cable being laid when required. Tenderers were required to submit prices for alternative types of roof construction, and the successful tender is for hipped aluminium roofed units. The tender includes the provision of roading and drainage services. Approval was given by the Government yesterday to the maximum subsidy of £19.200 for the cottages.
