DEMOLITIONS IN CITY

Move To Prevent Inconvenience Members of the traffic committee considered that demolition of city buildings should be carried out in the early hours of the morning or during week-ends, the committee reported to the City Council. Reference had been made to the inconvenience caused to adjoining shop-owners and to the disruption of traffic when a commercial building was demolished in Armagh street, the committee said. Until the debris was sprayed with water there was considerable dust nuisance, which had affected all shops in the area.

The council agreed with the committee that in future, when permits were issued for demolition work, adjoining property owners should be informed and that any departments of the council concerned should be advised so that steps could be taken to obviate any nuisance or disruption of traffic.
