Fined £20 For Robbery
(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 20. Ernest Harold Bland, aged 20, a driver, was fined £2O. costs 30s, and placed on probation for 12 months when he appeared for sentence in the Magistrate’s Court at Wellington on a charge of robbery.
He was convicted on Monday after admitting an attack on Lawrence Arthur Meads, aged 56. in Meads’s house, and the theft of £l2 lOs'from his person. Mr J. A Wicks. S.M.. ordered that while on probation Bland should abstain from liquor, and make immediate restitution of the money.
Salvationist Anzac Day Service
The Salvation Army will hold a service in the Christchurch Citadel on Anzac Day Representatives of the Le. gion Frontiersmen, the Red Cross Society, the St. John Ambulance Association, the Returned Services’ Association and youth organisations will attend. The divisional commander (Colonel A. E. Albiston) will conduct the service. Colonel Albiston was formerly a chaplain in the Australian Imperial Forces.
