The manager of the Indian touring team, Mr Ghulam Ahmed, today repeated his allegation that the West Indies' fast bowler. C. Griffiths, was a "chucker." He added: "And chuckers have no place in this game.” Mr Ahmed was commenting on local newspaper reports in which some top Barbados cricket officials defended Griffith’s bowling. They were quoted as saying the Indians had made too much fuss over the incident in which the Indian captain. Nari Contractor, almost lost his life after being hit on the head by a ball from Griffith Mr Ahmed said that even before his players faced one ball from Griffith, knowledgeable cricket enthusiasts in Barbados had warned him they would be coming up against a "chucker." He said he wanted to make it absolutely clear that he was taking a stand against Griffith not because of what happened to Contractor, but for the health of the game.
