Six West Indies players had batting averages of over 40.00, compared with only one Indian, in the test series which ended yesterday. F Worrell (83.00) headed the West Indies batting averages, though second-placed R. Kanhai (70.711. who scored 495 runs, had the best aggregate for either team. P. Umrigar, the highest scorer for India with 445 runs, headed his team's batting and bowling averages with figures of 49.44 and 27 66 respectively. W. Hall, who took 27 wickets at 15.74 each, had easily the best aggregate and average among the bowlers for either side.
The Indians, who have now completed the first-class section of their tour, failed to win a game. Thev drew two matches and lost six, including all five tests.
It was the fourth occasion that a country has lost all five games in a full test series.
