appeared for the applicants, said that they were employed as firemen by the Christchurch Fire Board. By arranging their days off du>y they would be able to provide a proper service in their new business. Archibalds Garage. Ltd. (Mr H W. Hunter), was granted an amendment to its rental vehicle licence by the addition of one four-wheel drive utility vehicle. The application was opposed by D. J. Patchett, Ltd. (Mr J. H M. Dawson). Mr Hunter said the vehicle would be used for taking parties to ski fields and to provide for tourists who wished to travel into the back country. The Isaac Shingle and Sand Company, Ltd. (Mr J. G. Hutchison) was granted an application for a revocation of a continuous goods service licence and the transfer of three vehicle authorities to the Isaac Construction Company. Ltd.

Amendments also were granted to licences held by the Isaac Construction Company, Ltd., to allow the company to operate its licences in the Inangahua. Murchison and Buller counties and to have exemption from rail restriction for its own goods "urgently required on the job.” An application by Wilkins Continuous Wallboards. Ltd., for an amendment to its continuous goods service licence to Include the No. 8 Licensing District was adjourned to allow the company to confer with the Railways Department. G. W. Pearson and Sons, Ltd (Mr A C. Fraser) were granted three additional vehicle authorities in the No.’s 8 and 9 Transport Licensing Districts. The Authority said the vehicle authorities would have - exemption from rail restriction to carry buildings and the licensee’s own bridge-building and contracting equipment Emergency materials for the licensees own contracts could be carried on only one vehicle authority.
