Six Dredges At Lyttelton
After the arrival of the grab hopper dredge, Tasman Bay from Nelson yesterday, there were six harbour dredges at Lyttelton. Three are the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s new dredge, Peraki, the 51-year-old dredge, Canterbury, and the smaller grab hopper dredge, Tewhaka which is 52. At present undergoing overhaul at Lyttelton is the Greymouth Harbour Board's dredge, Mawihera. the oldest at 54. A smaller vessel, the Wanganui Harbour Board's grab hopper dredge, Wanganui arrived on Tuesday and like the Tasman Bay will undergo an annual overhaul.
