Tennis TOURNEY AT EASTER
Entries Very Poor Entries for toe Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association's annual Easter tournament are the poorest for many years, probably because of the gap of about a month from the end of other competitive play in Christchurch. When entries closed there were seven entries in the men’s singles and six in the women's singles, four in each of the men’s and women’s doubles, and an amazing nine in the mixed doubles. As usual toe under 17 sections are best supported: there were 12 in the under 17 boys’ singles it is thought that some of the fields may be Increased by toe time toe tournament begins on the hard courts at Wilding Park on Saturday, but if not the three days—Saturday, Monday and Tuesday (and Sunday play was even given as optional)— will hardly be needed for the tournament.
