TELEVISED RUGBY
Screening “In • Some Form” (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. April 17. Rugby would appear over television in New Zealand “in some form” during the present season, Mr T. C. Morrison, chairman of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union, said today. Mr Morrison confirmed that there had been discussions on television at meetings of the New Zealand union in Wellington last week. At the wish of the broadcasting authorities, these had been taken in committee. It was still desired by both parties that there should be no premature statement of intentions. “However, I can say,” said Mr Morrison, “that my council is prepared for television of our Rugby in some form this winter. “We intend to tell the provincial unions of what is to be done as soon as negotiations with the Broadcasting Corporation are completed.” Mr Morrison said.
