GOWNS FOR FORMAL EVENING WEAR.—Full-skirted evening frocks for formal wear have not been entirely replaced by the trumpet-line or the long, straight skirt with flounced hemline. Here two formal gowns from recent collections of London designers show the lingering fashion for bouffant styles. LEFT: A ball dress by Victor Stiebel in two shades of rose pink paper taffeta. The slotted bodice, in deeper rose, is swathed to the figure and the full-blown skirt has a back panel of deep rose. RIGHT: A formal dinner dress in marigold satin by Worth. Bold bead fringe round the deep decolletage is repeated on the elbowlength sleeves.
