HEAVY SEAS AT OAMARU
Protective Arm Smashed (NZ. Press Association) OAMARU, April 17. The heaviest seas for many years buffeted the North Otago coastline yesterday and smashed through tile Ramsay Extension, a protective arm jutting south-east of the concrete breakwater on the exposed side of the Oamaru harbour. Hundreds of tons of rock have disappeared, leaving a gap for the sea to pour over the breakwater. It will not be possible to estimate the extend of the damage until the seas have subsided.
