MGR J. F. MacMANUS (N.Z. Press Association) PALMERSTON NORTH, April 17. The Rt. Rev. Monsignor James Francis MacManus died in Palmerston North today. He was 85. He was parish priest at St. Patrick’s for nearly 50 years. Monsignor MacManus was born in Carrigallen, County Leitrim, Ireland. He was educated for the priesthood at St. Patrick’s seminary, in Thurles, Ireland, and came to New Zealand in 1903. He came to Palmerston North in 1913. In 1931 he was decorated by Pope Pius XI as a domestic prelate.
