Tallow Spilt In Ship’s Holds
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 17. The freighter Amalric, which arrived at Auckland this morning from Opua, had quantities of tallow on the floor of one of her holds. Heavy seas which pounded the ship as she made her way up the coast from Nelson caused a number ot tallow barrels to break loose and smash against each other and the ship’s sides. Cleaning up the mess had begun, but it was not yet possible to ascertain if any other cargo had been contaminated, said a spokesman for the company.
