Chambers Reject Proposal (N.Z. Press Association) N. PLYMOUTH. April 16 A Wellington remit aimed at urging the Government to take the necessary action for the establishment of a second legislative chamber was lost on a show of hands after consideration by the annual conference of the Associated Chambers of Commerce at New Plymouth today. It was the sole remit lost during the conference and was presented by Mr F W Petre on behalf of the Wellington Chamber. “We do not necessarily agree with the recommendation that any new second legislative chamber be formed by appointment." said Mr Petre. “My own feeling is that election would be bes but it is considered that such details should not be included in the remit The principle is the main issue ”
