REST ROOMS RANSACKED
Vandals Active At Ashburton Vandals have once again damaged the interior and furniture in the women’s rest rooms in Havelock street. When the cleaner arrived at the rooms yesterday morning, she found the back door and windows open. AU the furniture inside the lounge had been turned upside down and lipstick scribbied over the newly painted walls. The furniture had been disturbed and was strewn across the floor, and curtains had been ripped from the windows. “This has been going on for some time," said the cleaner yesterday. “The intruders take everything they can lay their hands on.” The Town Clerk (Mr H C. Childs) said that the matter had been placed in the hands of the police.
He said that this vandalism happened periodically. The last time it happened was in February when some cushions and covers were stolen.
Shortly before Christmas ffiere had been another outStirst, he said.
