COLT FOR DEVLIN

(A'.z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. April 13. To win the Melbourne Cup is the ambition of many of New Zealand's top racehorse owners. It is also the ambition of Johnny Devlin, the New Zealand entertainer. Mr Devlin said in Dunedin today that negotiations had just been completed and he was part-owner of a yearling colt by the well-known racehorse. Lucky Cast. The colt was bought from a breeder m Fairlie for £5OO. The other owner is a cousin of A I r r. D fy lin ' s ’ Mr T Mercer, of Feilding. According to Mr Devlin, the horse will be trained bv a jockey and distant relative. K. Quayle. “Our ultimate aim is the Melbourne Cup.” he said. "I have always been keen on horses and have always wanted to own one. Of course, the best horses are bred in New Zealand.” Mr Devlin is at present touring New Zealand with the Johnnie Ray Show.
