Mr G. Millsom. of Moray a. New South Wales, yesterday paid tris first visit to Addington for more than 55 years. Mr Millsom, a 75-year-o’d veterinary surgeon, is one of the best-known figures in trotting in Australia. His last visit to Addington was in 1906 when he accompanied his uncle. G. Millsom. who campaigned three horses with success in New Zealand. One of them, Belmont M„ won the 1906 New Zealand Cup, while Little Ned was also successful on the trip. Mr Millsom has plaved a big part in the promotion of trotting in Australia. As well as training many winners and driving upwards of 1000 winners before he retired in 1946. he has done much to encourage straightout trotters and races for young horses Among the many prominent reinsmen he had driven against were G. B. Noble and the late W. J. Tomkinson, said Mr Millsom. Mr Millsom has accompanied has son to Christchurch to attend the yearling sales at Addington today. His son. G. Millsom, junior, intends training trotters again said Mr Millsom. He trained them some years ago, but more recently be has trained gallopers, one of the best of which has been Never Missed, the winner of 14 races, tortuding the Commonwealth Gold Cup and races at Warwick Farm and Rosehall in Sydney.
