NEW ST. JOHN BUILDING
Fairlie Plans A new St. John Ambulance Association and brigade headquarters will be built at Fairlie.
The Fairlie Jaycees have undertaken to arrange for the tradesmen's work on the building and to provide the unskilled labour. The headquarters will stand immediately behind the present garage and small meeting room, the intention being eventually to remove the present building and extend the new headquarters forward towards the street. The building now to be erected will consist of a large meeting room, a kitchen and two cloakrooms. It will be opened before the end of the year. The work has become urgent after a greatly increased interest in the brigade in the district. With 10 prospective members now taking classes, the potential senior strength of the senior combined division is 29. There is also a cadet nursing division with 12 members.
