1. Letters sent to the Editortor printing must be written in ink on one side of the paper only, and writers must send in their names and addresses in full, whether they wish these to be published or not. 2. Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent to other papers. 3. The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing, nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters, although this will be done where it seems to be needful, or enter into any correspondence. 4. Letters must not be of more than 150 words in length. Well-wisher.—Better sent direct to the N.Z.B.S. Ryth France.—lt is not a new suggestion and it has received more than cursory examination. Colonel Prigg—Relevant more to the question of punishment in schools than judicial punishment. W. J. Collins—You are extending the theory too far if you are arguing that viruses will attack only the unhealthy. Claude McClelland.—Your questions. addressed to Mr Walsh, seem to be relevant to the wages claim, which is sub judice. W. W. Stewart and Reality— We would prefer not to open the subject to lay discussion.

Curious. —The Director of Meteorological Services says that Spring begins on September 1. C. M. Curtis.—The North Canterbury Hospital Board is the controlling authority: and if you ask specific questions or make specific complaints, either directly or through the paper, the board will no doubt answer. Housewife. Exceeds space limit. Health authorities overseas have investigated the effect of detergents and have concluded that they are not dangerous to health. Proper rinsing of dishes is, of course, a matter of common sense. Waste Not, Want Not.—Most of the chestnuts in the avenues are horse chestnuts—not the edible chestnut. The fruits have been used overseas for chemical purposes and, to a limited extent, for stock food; but we doubt whether they have any commercial value in New Zealand.
