PROHIBITED IMMIGRANT
Australian To Be Sent Home ( Press Association) ROTORUA, Mar. 21. A 29-year-oid Australian 'heetmetal worker, William Roy Leslie Warry. was convicted and fined £l5 by Mr G. J. Donne. S.M., in the Magistrate's Court at Rotorua for landing in New Zealand while being a prohibited immigrant. Warry. who pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing, was rdered to be detained in custody, and to be sent to Australia on the first available opportunitv. Mr D H Rudd, for the I-£ooar Department, said that Warry landed in New Zealand mi August 23 last year. As he had served a prison sentence in Australia of longer than 12 months he was a prohibited immigrant. For Warry, Mr F. J. Harbutt said his client had quite a lengthy criminal record in Australia. Since being in New Zealand, he had behaved reasonably well, although he was convicted of assault a week ago.
