TRAFFIC LANING IN AVENUE
Lanmg of traffic at the Bealey avenue-Colombo street intersection was approved by the City Council last evening, not just as a means of improving the intersection, but also as a way of educating motorists to lane driving. Difficulties along the avenues were largely confined to the intersections, the traffic committee reported. The laning plan involved a restriction on perking for approximately 120 ft along both sides of each median strip and along the outside kerb on the approach sides only. A “diamond turn” would be indicated by a dotted continuation of the centre lines. This was contrary to the normal practice on the avenues but should lead to a smoother flow of traffic. Lane markings were also approved for the Bealey avenue-FltzgeraJd avenue intersection.
