Foundation Stone Laid
The foundation stone of the Papanui Working Men’s Club was laid on Saturday by Mr H. J. Reynolds, a member of the Waimairi County Council.
Before laying he stone, Mr l.eynolds said that the club was to be congratulated on its striking progress and loyal and active membership and on the realisation of a self-imposed task. “Your project.” he said, “has been a splendid one, an amenity which will be greatly prized by the men of the Harewood and neighbouring districts. With the ample room for parking, the large area available for sports of every description and the added spaciousness provided by the 15-acre park reserve which joins the club's property, we can envisage the Papanui Working Men's Club as perhaps the finest of its kind in New Zealand.” The function was attended by a large gathering of club members and local residents.
