Meal Of Snails
Boys of the Little Singers of Paris, now in Wanganui, had a French meal on Saturday evening—snails. The group was in Palmerston North. After a concert on Friday night some of the boys disappeared into a host's garden with torches They returned with a pile of snails which they put into a sack of bran and herbs. The next evening, the snails were removed from their .shells, dunked in salt water to cleanse them, cooked, and eaten with sauce. The boys enjoyed their meal but had one complaint—New Zealand snails were too small.— (P.A.)
