PLANNING ACT
Local Bodies Want Review ( N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, March 8. The Municipal Association wants its executive to make a complete review of the Town and Country Planning Act, after criticisms of the act at the association’s conference in Auckland today Mr R. M. McDonald (Mosgiel), who urged the investigation, said there was proof of the act’s pitfalls in “the greying and prematurely balding heads” of local bodies’ legal advisers. He said it had taken 14 months, at a cost of five figures, to achieve some re-zoning in his area.
The Mayor of Dunedin (Mr T. K. S. Sidey) said the Dunedin City Council had lost control of the daily planning of its own area. The act was not working out
