Sale Of Hormones At Cost Sought The New Zeeland Counties' Association should move in some way to ret hormone, for the eradication of noxious weeds provided to farmers ,-t a cheaper rate, said Mr A. A Macfarlane. chairman of the Amari County Council, at the annual meeting of Ward ;i of the association Mr Macfarlane’s prop's.l that a remit asking the Government to purchase hormones in bulk and make them available to farmers at co-t be sent to the annual conference of the counties' assocation was approved by the ward. Mr W R. Oliver, chairman of the Selwyn County Council, raid the ward shou d point out to the association - executive that cost was retarding the use of the hormone. "Counties can get the hormone at wholesale rates, but they are not allowed 'o retail it at that price.” sa d the chairman <Mr C. N Maekenzie). Mr Oliver raid a similar proposal was rejected by the Government last year on the ground that the Government was spending £<2.000 a year on noxious weeds subsidies to local bodies, and it was Government policy not to compete with wholesalers or retailers. “We might get the same answer this time.” he said.
