Remits On Teaching
Sixteen remits on teaching and staffing will be considered by the conference ol the Dominion Federation ol School Committees’ Associations.
A remit from the Wellington association says that because there was approximately a 25 per cent loss in students after they had completed their training, the Government should not award a teachers’ certificate until the teacher had taught for three years.
The Manawatu-Oroua association has submitted a remit asking that an immediate survey be conducted to inquire into the conditions of service of teachers.
The Wellington association also recommends the commencing salary after certification be raised to £765. that the minimum academic qualification for entry to training be raised to that required for entrance to a university. Other remits deal with training of specialist teachers, and staff housing.
TVb State Aid To Private Schools
The Dominion Federation of School Committees’ Associations will be asked to reaffirm that no further State aid be granted to private schools. This remit has been submitted by the national executive of the federation.
