VITAMISE KEEN IN RICCARTON SPRINT

Vitamise sprinted keenly to beat hds stablemate, Tidal Wave, easily over half a mile on the trial grass at Riccarton yesterday. Vitamise, the lone Riccarton representative in the Wellington Racing Club’s Thompson Handicap tomorrow, won toe gallop by two lengths. He did well to run toe final three furlongs on a soft track in 39 2-seec.

A H Eastwood will ride Topa at Trentoam. Safe Harbour (D N. Hadfield) did well in toe conditions to record 51 3-ssec for half a mile. Her fourth at Motukarara was meritorious after having to go it alone in front and run into a gale. Full Course (W. Humphries) and New Boots (A H. Eastwood) were showing clear of First Watch (C. T Wilson) after three furlongs, run in 39 l-ssec. They are two-year-olds in C. G. Humphries’s team. Full Course is a gelding by Howe from toe Salmagundi mare. Salad. New Boots is a filly by The Cobbler from Restless Two-Year-Olds French Leave (W. Humphries) and Count Pedro (A H. Eastwood), two more two-year-olds In the Humphries team, recorded 53 3-ssec for half a mile and 40 2-ssec tor toe final three furlongs. French Leave is a gelding by Targui from Merry Christmas, and Count Pedro is by Chatsworth H from Luscious. Awatere (D. N. Hadfield) drew up in toe last furlong to beat Sir Pedro (N. Eastwood) by a length over half a mile Awatere ran toe distance in 53 4-ssec.

Roman Maid (G. R. Baldwin), which has built up impressively since toe last raced, recorded 53sec for her halfmile.

After jumping toe pony hurdles. Coral Call (R. L Browning) made a careful run over three standard flights. He jumped each hurdle with lots to spare.

Takatimu For Sydney

"The Press" Special Service CAMBRIDGE, March 8. The good pacer, Takatimu, has been nominated for the Lord Mayor's Cup, a 13-fur-long event run for £5OOO at the Sydney Easter trotting carnival. Her trainer, W. R Scott, of New Brighton, who is in temporary headquarters at Cambridge, said on Thursday that if shipping could be arranged, Takitimu would probably leave from Auckland about March 31. She has been nominated for other important events at the meeting- Meantime, Takitimu, which won at Auckland during the summer, will race in the Adams Memorial Handicap at Epsom on Saturday evening.
