NEW YACHT HARBOUR
Clubs Discuss Alternatives There was a solid consensus against Purau as a site for a yacht harbour, particularly because of exposure to the prevailing winds, said the chairman (Mr A. A. Macfarlane) reporting to the Lyttelton Harbour Board yesterday on a meeting with yacht clubs to discuss alternative sites for a boat harbour. He had pointed out particularly the expense to the board if a protected area was to be provided, Mr Macfarlane said. Another meeting would be held when clubs had discussed the sites. Mr F. I. Sutton said he had visited Governors Bay and found it was suitable for a boat harbour. Mr Macfarlane said it would not be right to discuss sites until the clubs had had the opportunity of discussing the altematatives.
