Support For Fewer Local Bodies
(NX Press Association) AUCKLAND, Mar. 7. There would be no need for any further tier of local government in New Zealand if the number of existing local bodies was reduced, said the president of the Counties Association (Mr N. A. Rattray) at Auckland today. Speaking to the Municipal Association conference, he said: “I believe the counties could be reduced in number to some degree. And you may think that the number of municipalities could be reduced too.”
