£6000 MILE STAKE

Rich Race At Trentham J “The Preu" Special Service WELLINGTON, March t The trustees of George Adams, Ltd. (Tattersall's), Melbourne, have renewed their donation of a stake of £3OOO and a £3OO gold trophy for the George Adams Mile, which will be run at the Wellington Racing Club’s summer meeting at Trentham in January, 1963. The trustees initiated this race on the Trentham summer programmes last January with a stake of £3OOO and a £l5O gold trophy. Mr A. M. Kilgour, supervising trustee, expressed the hope then that the race would become a fixture on the Trentham summer programme and that it would be the leading mile race in the Dominion with the largest prize. In fulfilment of this hope, the stewards of the Wellington Racing Club will add £3OOO to the Tattersall’s endowment, making the stake £6OOO plus the £3OO trophy. It thus becomes the most valuable mile race on the racing calendar.
