EXTENSIONS TO CALVARY
Minister At Hospital General plans for the extension of patient accommodation at the Calvary Hospital were discussed yesterday by the Mother Superior (the Rev. Mother Benedicts) and the Minister of Health (Mr McKay). The Minister said afterwards that the Member of Parliament for St. Albans (Mr H. J. Walker) had details of the hospital's needs and would be submitting them to him in Wellington next week.
Mr McKay, on his first visit to Christchurch in his capacity as Minister, arrived three hours late through the disruption of air services He was supposed to have visited the St. Helens Management Committee, in session at the Christchurch St. Helens Hospital, before going to Calvary, but had to cancel the visit because of the lack of time.
After leaving Calvary. Mr McKay met local National Party workers at the party rooms. In the evening, he talked with committee members of the Christchurch Aged People's Welfare Council about the council's building plans. Today he will visit various North Canterbury Hospital Board institutions in company with board members •nd officers.
