ADDINGTON MARKET Sound Sale Throughout For All Classes

There was a big increase in the number of adult breeding ewes yarded at Addington Market yesterday which totalled nearly 13,000 head, but there was a sound sale for all classes with the better quality lines showing a slight improvement. Some of the fine-wool sheep looked to be in advance of recent ewe fair rates. Two-tooth ewes, after a weak opening, sold soundly with good competition on the top sheep which tended to firm slightly. Lambs met a strong sale before a big gallery and most classes were Is to 2s a head dearer. A much bigger store wether entry also met a good sale. Chatham Islands sheep were forward in the two-tooth and .adult ewe sections, and in the wether classes, and these sheep sold well with their reputation tending to give them a slight premium.

The entry totalled 24,602 head, compared with 19,742 last week, and included 5717 store lambs (6589 last week), 14857 two-tooth ewes (4931), 12,913 older ewes (8075) and 1115 wethers (147).

A big consignment of Chatham Island Romneys was forward and these met a sound sale at a slight premium.
