STATE RENT INCREASES
Means Test Not Yet Arranged ( N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Mar. 7. Arrangements for the proposed means test for State house tenants, announced last year, have not yet been completed, a State Advances Corporation spokesman said today. It might, therefore, be several months before tenants on large incomes would be asked to pay higher rents as a result of the means test based on incomes for the year ended March 31 next. It is intended that for earh £5O earned above the 3 per cent, housing loan qualification limit of £lOOO (plus £5O for each child allowance) the rent will be increased by £lO a year. The ceiling to this increased payment will be the fair rent.
