C.S.R. SALES FOR EXPORT
90,000 Tons For Canada (N.Z. Press Association) SYDNEY, March’ 5. Colonial Sugar Refining Company. Ltd., is making good progress with export sales of Australian raw sugar to be produced from the 1962 harvest. The harvest will begin next June, the general manager, Dr. J. Vernon, said today. He said 90.000- tons of Australian raw sugar had been sold to a Canadian buyer, Atlantic Sugar Refineries. Ltd. The sale was negotiated by Mr P. T. Wheen, assistant general manager of C.S.R., on behalf of the Queensland Sugar Board and the sugar industry. Dr. Vernon also announced the sale of a further quantity of 60.000 tons to Japanese buyers in addition to an existing contract for 150.000 tons. The total amount will be shipped to Japan from the 1962 crop and is about double the tonnage of previous years.
