MT. COOK PARK BROCHURES
First Ready Soon Three publications, two new and one an extensive revision, are being prepared for the Mount Cook National Park Board.
A visitors’ brochure, which will appear in a few weeks, has been prepared by Mr L. A Hutchison of the Lands and Survey Department and it will contain notes on the flora, fauna, mountains, tracks, ski-ing, and accommodation, as well as a map of the park.
A revised edition of the park handbook is also being prepared. This will replace the original edition which appeared in 1959. New sections on the geology and insects of the park will be included. It is hoped that the new edition will be out in three or four months. The editor is a member of the board, Mr H. E. Connor. Mr Connor will also be generally responsible for the production of a brochure on a nature walk which is being planned for the park. This walk will cover part of the Hooker Valley track, from the first swing bridge over the river to the terminal of the Hooker Glacier. It is hoped that both brochure and walk will be ready by Christmrs,
