WELLINGTON, February 15 Traffic superintendents of Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, Dunedin and Lower Hutt are to recommend to their respective councils the introduction of traffic improvement schools The scheme has already been approved by the Road Safety Council. The courses are designed to give comprehensive knowledge of traffic law and sound driving principles. A syllabus drawn up by the Transport Department cohsist? of a series of six lectures accompanied by screen slides depicting various traffic situations.
An outline of the proposed course was given to the traffic controlling authorities when they met the Commissioner of Transport <Mr A E Forsyth) yesterday Mr Forsyth said that, initial'y. attendance at the school® would be on a voluntary basis and by invitation The traffic superintendent of Auckland City Council (Mr N Lake) said that last year more than 1000 persons attended courses organised by his department.
