1962 MOBILGAS ECONOMY RUN

Entries Coining In Steadily

( N.Z. Press Association)

WELLINGTON. Feb. 14

Intending entrants have one week left before applications close for this year’s Mobilgas economy run, which well be held in the South Island from April 11 to 13. A spokesman for the sponsors said that entries were coming in steadily, particularly in the two lower engine capacity classes. Cars eligible for the run remain much the same as for last year's event but allowance has been made for new models coming on to the market.

The successful 1961 experiment of restricting entries to cars of a capacity of below 3000 c.c. has been retained. The run is open to 30 types of 1961 or 1962 petrol-driven cars, and the 725-mile route will include about 350 miles of typical West Coast driving. The event will start at Nelson and conclude at Dunedin, and the competing cars will be under constant supervision by officials of the Association of New Zealand Car Clubs.
