The 449 yards or 400metre individual medley has been approved for the Olympic Games, but not the Empire Games.
Cabled advice received today from Perth said that there would be no individual Dudley for men or women, onjy med'Jey relays. Seagar’s coach, Mr M A. Doige, must now decide whether to concentrate on backstroke, breastotroke or butterfly, in the hope that Seagar may sum gain nomination for t'he games. Last season &agar swam best m breaststroke, but this year has concentrated on backstroke.
The men’s backstroke race « ames will be over 110 yards, a distance which should suit Seagar, if not V le n^.. w . Zealand champion, who prefer 220 yards.
Both Seagar and Robertson have been chosen for the r * atlona > coaching school at Tauranga and Auckland later this year The women's medley champion, Mrr Helen Rogers who could also be affected absence of the individual medley, has been chosen for the school, but primarily as a butterfly swimmer.
