Cycling S. Patterson Wins Austral

Patterson, ended a 40-year “jinx” when he won the Australian professional cycling track classic, the mile and a half Austral Wheel race, at Melbourne’s Olympic Velodrome on Saturday night. Patterson, aged 34, was the first scratch rider to win the Austral since J. Fitzgerald succeeded in 1922.
